And over the next few years too, Frankfurt am Main will again be at the heart of world football, as it's from here that the organising committee led by Frankfurt-born Steffi Jones is directing the preparations and running of the great football festival in 2011. The main contact point for the football officials is on Otto-Fleck-Schneise adjacent to the Commerzbank Arena, ideally located near to the airport for visitors from all five continents.

Upgraded for the 2006 World Cup, Frankfurt's modern stadium will host four games in the 2011 tournament, including two group games, a semi-final and the final. Which teams, other than the German side, will feature will become known when the draw is made in Frankfurt in November 2010.

The referees, who attract particular media attention, will, like the FIFA officials, be accommodated in Frankfurt hotels.
